Bruichladdich’s high pitch sweet barley key note is on show here in the form of butter menthol lozenges. Before that, underscored by sweet, farmyard style peat. The sherry quickly comes to the fore while the palate takes an intense, though drier turn as the sherry vies with the phenols. Something akin to smokey, cask strength Armagnac here. It all ends in a bittersweet and sooty rush of high-cocoa dark chocolate, date-cake, menthol tobacco and blackpepper and continues to unravel in an earthy vs peaty notes. Good staying power. The sherry bomb of the collection but allow 10-20 minutes of air contact to see this blossom. 59.9% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered. 193 bottles from a fresh sherry hogshead.
